Treadmills
If you have limited physical capability, treadmills allow you to do one of the best exercises you can do is walking. This strengthens your heart by giving it a good cardio workout and also builds up your stamina. There are many, however, who either too busy to find the time to go walking or have a health problem that confines them to the home. These are just two groups of people who benefit from greatly from having a treadmill in the home.
Now we aren’t talking about the enormous treadmills that you see lined up in a gym, these are designed specifically for use in the home and are therefore smaller and neater but still have the same basic functions and can bring great health benefits to the user.
The machine consists of a wide conveyor belt that is driven by a motor, you walk or run in the opposite direction to which the belt is moving to give yourself, and you heart, a good workout. There are various levels of treadmill speed, ranging from stroll to sprint, and you just set the speed according to your own capability and gradually increase the speed as your fitness improves.
There are some models that actually elevate the front of the belt so you are effectively walking or running uphill, strengthening your legs and bottom as you go. If you want to set up a home gym, combine a treadmill with several pieces of gym equipment to give yourself a complete workout without having to travel. A treadmill is also a great way of building up fitness again after an injury or illness, and is simply one of the most useful pieces of fitness equipment ever invented.
