Multigyms
If you want to have a good all round workout but don’t have the space for several pieces of gym equipment, invest in multigyms. These machines are exactly what you would expect them to be; once piece of equipment that incorporates several different ways to exercise so you get both your cardio and strength training from one machine.
Multigyms have changed greatly over the past few years, and all the changes have been for the better. Thanks to restyling and incorporating new equipment they are more versatile than ever, and thankfully also more compact. A recent addition to home multigyms is the weight stack, where you pop a pin in the weight you want to lift and then use a pulley system to lift the weights and create resistance.
A good multigym will combine at least 11 different exercises, making sure that you are working nearly every muscle in your body and achieving a work out equivalent to what you would get at a gym. You will probably already know if you have specific areas of the body you want to work ok, such as your arms, legs, stomach or back, so ensure that you buy a multigym that incorporates the best exercises possible for your specific area.
There are bargains to be had out there, but be wary of buying very cheap multigyms that haven’t been discounted and are from a brand you don’t recognise. Far better to invest in a more expensive but better quality machine than a cheap one that will break down very quickly.
