Cross Trainers

Relative newcomers in the world of home fitness equipment, cross trainers (or elliptical trainers as they are also called) have gained a big fan base very quickly and are increasing in popularity all the time. They are a low impact way of exercising both your legs and upper body at the same time, whilst also flexing the muscles in your sides and stomach through a gentle twisting motion. The combination of movement makes them very effective at strengthening, toning and fat burning.

There are two main types of cross trainer intended for home use, belt and magnetic. The former is ideal for a basic workout and are usually good value for money whilst magnetic cross trainers generally offer a wider range of resistance programmes and training levels to greatly improve your fitness. The amount of different tensions on a cross trainer are a good indication of the level of fitness you can achieve, and the more levels the better.

Cross trainers are also a lot more compact than they used to be, and you should allow a space that a small sofa would need, also remember to allow space around the machine so your movements will not be restricted in any way. On the front of your cross trainer there will be a screen with a digital display so you can see how hard you have worked out, how many calories you have burnt and other details.

As disposable income continues to drop and gym memberships rise, a cross trainer is an ideal piece of equipment that will strengthen your heart as well as greatly improve your fitness and appearance.
